what am i doing right now?
Well i might be saving tracks from the CDs i got as an early birthday present from carly

The Official Fiction, Something For Kate
Number Four Record, You Am I
The Chariot, Cat Empire

Yay. Something to replace the awesome CDs that were stolen when we were filming.
Not happy jan.

But Yay! Presents!

Who's coming to my tone-deaf-fancy-dress-up party on the 12th?

So tell me right now, if I had some cool musak birthday bash, what:
-drink would you bring?
-song would you request?
-costume would you wear?
-instrument would you bring to jam with?

first of all let me say this, cos i've been meaning to for a while...

The whole world does not revolve around you.

Aah, now I've just created an existential dilemma - for all who read that will think "Is she talking about me?.... But,.. maybe it isnt? But...Aaagh!"

And then their heads will all simultaneously implode. When I hit the Publish button I shall run to the open window and await the colossal boom sound that would inevitably accompany such a global meltdown of the psyche.

Muhahahahahaha!

Huh? Oh yeah... blogging. Right.

I'm having a very switchy day today, and when I came home, I changed into my pyjamas, curled up under my rug on my bed, drew the blinds and watched a few videos on my big TV, eating chocolate.

That's very girly, huh?

But anyway, I just felt like shit. Still do if I look hard enough, but in between chatting and blogging, I've been working on my photoshop stuff and when that works, it always distracts me well enough to get by. Look at this one:

Nice huh?
I took that shot somewhere near Byron Bay, and there were lots of blemishes I had to edit out. I like how it turned out.

But before I turned to my photoshop I was storming around the house. I remember trying to fix the frame of the wooden laundry basket and I ended up just throwing it to the floor.

It's funny how my anger works. In company, I'll just be quiet and a bit wooden. Alone, I'll let it out however it comes.

I guess that happens when you grow up in a household that was based on the free venting of rage on innocents. That's why even today I hate seeing people taking shit out on other people, and I try not to do it myself.

Carly asked me today if I felt like throttling her senseless, and while she does make me extremely mad sometimes, I don't think I could ever do that. And yet, if someone was doing something to someone else, like to her for example, I know that I'd immediately fade back and let the other protective side of me come out.

It's strange to sit down and really look at how the mind works, isnt it?

I'm not feelin so good.

I feel tired inside and out.
I feel heavy.
I feel almost.... defeated?

I don't know what grey cloud has settled on me or why.
I don't know when it will go lift away or how.

I just know that I need some serious hug therapy right now.

Shall I tell you about my day? Very well then...

A brief summary.
I went to Bec's and waited for Alex to come home so we could all drive down to Darlington for Bec to be rostered on at the farm, and then went to Marion.
I bumped into Emma Capone, who I havent seen since year 12! I was only thinking of her the other day :) I like Emma, she's nice.
Then we went to the Food Court where we perved on Alex's nice American friend at the Wetzel's Pretzels and scored a freebie while bec drooled.

Mmmm nice  American boy with an accent, free food and a nice backside.... always a winner.

Anyway, then we traipsed around looking for various bits and pieces, me continually conscious of the errands I had to run, until 3pm came and went and I thought 'ok, let's just shop.' I bought myself a pair of purple PJ pants with Blue hippo faces on them. We found that the huge bamboo chimes I wanted to get mum for her birthday were broken as expected, but were still priced as $60... so we drove from Marion to Seaford where they were $20 and bought them.
Then I had to go Noarlunga and pick up Carly's film, which they couldnt find and spent aaaaaaaaages waiting for that dick at the AV desk to go find it. I hate getting him when I go there, he's a major toss. But yeah, my quick 5min run-in went considerably longer than planned.

By the time I got back to my car, I was falling asleep. Meh. At least I got a CD and some sleep pants out of the day.

Carly is holding my phone hostage.

our silly little 5 minute monstrosity will be screened at The Arts Centre, Gawler Street, Pt Noarlunga this Friday (Oct 22nd) at 7pm. You all have to come see it, and watch me stand up and say "hi, im vicki, this is aaron......um... any questions?"

on sunday, if i can get the day off at the farm (which hopefully i may) i will be doing facepainting at The Arts Centre for the close of the Art of Living Festival.

you all have to come and get attacked - err "painted".

my brother has been asked to get his team in to cater it - but the organisation is shit - so we reckon they're better off calling in some fairyfloss/hotchip guy, cos from what i hear, they wont come out of it well-off. That's my brother's take on the situation, I'd have to agree.

i, however, make more money being a facepainter in a few hours that i do all day being a farmer. not only that, i love it more.

and facepaint washes off far more easier than the smell of rosemary.

rosemary - that slut.

on friday night i met a guy.

ok, right now im sure i can hear all my lesbian friends screaming at me. but that, dear friends, is the price you pay for the life of a bisexual, you are subject to unexpected moments when your heart (and in this case just the heart) is touched by that a member of that disgusting gender that we call "male".

although, like the kind i met, there is a sub-division of this breed known as 'the nice guy' evolution... but of course this is an endangered species.

anyway, on to my story.

after participating in the ritualistic practice of drinking at the pub after a stunning perfomance of Cuckoo's Nest, i thought it best to rest in my car awhile before driving the short way home.

it was a freezing cold night, and whilst laying with my seat back - in danger of falling asleep and waking to people parking beside me coming to the next day's matinee - i heard someone walk past my car, stop, then come back.

i opened my eyes, and a guy about my age gave a little uncertain wave, introduced himself as Josh and asked if I was ok. I told him yes thankyou, and that i was just resting cos I was tired... I opened the window a little and shook his offered hand. then it struck me that it was about 2:30am, and I asked him "what about you? what're you doing just walkin around at this time of night?".

we got to talkin a little and after picking up no negative nor dangerous vibe from him whatsoever, i cleared space for him on the passenger seat and opened the door for him.

until 5 in the morning we talked. he had had a very rough night with his ex-girlfriend and there was a huge argument. hence he was doing the typical scorpio trait of walking and mulling to vent his pain and frustration.

a scorpio like me, his birthday is 3 weeks after mine, and after i told him that i'll be 21 in about 2 weeks, he asked very shyly is he could give me a kiss on the cheek for my birthday.

i let him. he said he liked my perfume. i let him smell the collar of my OPUS shirt. he told me that he closed his eyes when he did it so that he wouldnt be looking down my top. he shuffled in his chair and apologise the movement had momentarily brought him too close to me. i laughed and ruffled his hair.

i couldnt help but be touched by him. he told me his story, and was amazed, when he looked over, to discover that there i was, actually listening to him. there was so much pain and gentleness radiating from him, i found it so hard to believe that someone could treat him so badly.

by the time the sun was threatening to show its first rays in the east, the sky turning a pearly navy, he had cheered up remarkably and was evidently mystified that anyone could have shown him such kindness, let alone a complete stranger.

he was happier. and it made me feel good too to see the effect i had had on another person in a positive way. we both went away from the contact feeling better.

things really do happen for a reason.

more info on our film

ok, so this is pretty hard to explain, but basically the 'storyline' is as follows:

carly and theo respectively are leaving work.
carly works in an "office".
theo works on a "farm".
carly changes from officey clothes into casual clothes.
theo changes from farmy clothes to neat yuppy-ish clothes.

each walks or drives home (they live together - ooh la la - i'm jealous of each of them for the last scene - can i be in the middle somewhere?)

on the way each of them pass different locations in each of which are 2 different kinds of people - i dont want to assign stereotypes, but they're all pretty different from one another.

as they pass these people, the two 'cultures' of people swap in their activities. for example, a man in a suit jacket handing out flyers and a guy wearing a quicksilver beanie and ice hockey top who hassles him trade places, so that the ice-hockey top guy is handing out flyers and the man in the jacket is wearing a beanie and abusing him.

I know, it doesnt make much sense in writing. you just have to see it I guess.

anyway, eventually both theo and carly arrive homw where they 'greet each other' (aka carly wanted to re-take the welcome home kiss over and over and over :P) and hug. where they themselves trade places.

essentially the general vibe of the film is that we are all different yet the same. despite our different cultures, we're all human.

at least, i hope that's how it'll look once it's edited together.

aye aye capt'n - hard to starboard - steady she goes - weigh anchor

ok, we all know that I love Pirates of The Caribbean and just pirates in general. but get this...

in the afore mentioned scene of flyer-handing-outs etc. i needed an extra to walk along the street. mike had brought his 'friend' Malley, who had a blocked tearduct and was therefore weilding a wad of gauze hidden behind an eyepatch. eli was a bit uncertain of this, and had to get carly to touch him to prove that he was 'a nice pirate.

yes, i think so too. a very niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice pirate. and i dont think it was just the eyepatch doing it for me....

:P

my god. the way i've been acting and raving all day, anyone would think i'm straight.

the film

lastnite maz and I stayed out until 3am brainstorming ideas for a screenplay. at 9am this morning i rolled myself out of bed and made the call-out getting permission from this place and that place to film, seeing who was available today and tomorrow, and generally clearing up red tape.

i called theo, who was flat out today. then mike came over... his car conked out with an empty fueltank about 20m from my house. we had to organise a jerry can for him. then kate said she couldnt make it. then i had to sms maz to make sure he was awake. then i sms'd carly and asked if i could pleeeeeeeeease steal her for some filming today instead of doing it allllllll tomorrow. then kate said maybe she can come. then carly said she could come but eli would be there too (the result of which is theres ALOT of cute random kiddie-camera-handling "'Allo Micki!"). then Les rang back and said she was sick. then one of our locations had to be cleared with the powers-that-be so i was being called back all day.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

once all the filming was done, maz and i went a got pizza's then went back to my place to watch the footage......

..i've always hated the feeling when you've spent all day filming and theres only about 30mins actual footage on the tape - 80% unusable.

why the hell do i do this to myself?????????

hello stress, did ya miss me?

picking bunches of sage with this turning over and over in my head

it was like a bad karaoke clip

You Don't Bring Me Flowers
N. Diamond, A & M Bergman

You don't bring me flowers
You don't sing me love songs
You hardly talk to me anymore
When you come through the door
At the end of the day

I remember when
You couldn't wait to love me
Used to hate to leave me
Now after lovin' me late at night
When it's good for you
And you're feeling alright
Well you just roll over
And you turn out the light
And you don't bring me flowers anymore

It used to be so natural
To talk about forever
But 'used to be's' don't count anymore
They just lay on the floor
'Til we sweep them away

And baby, I remember
All the things you taught me
I learned how to laugh
And I learned how to cry
Well I learned how to love
Even learned how to lie
You'd think I could learn
How to tell you goodbye
'Cause you don't bring me flowers anymore

well here i am, on an unseasonally early hot day, sitting rather relaxed by the open window beside my desk, snacking away at a cold, crunchy bowl of yummy cocopops.

lastnite i came home after a stupidly long day at the herbfarm, had some tea, checked my email for a message saying 'we love you, come work for us and not at that stupid farm where your talent is wasted' but it wasnt there, then i collapsed onto my bed.

after convincing myself that i can get up, i staggered into the bathroom and lit my big vanilla candle. then i put a lil bit of water in the bath, hopped in, scrubbed until every last trace of that fucking farm was off me, let the dirty farmy water out and ran a loooooooong hot bath with lots of vanilla bubbles.

so im all clean and relaxed and smelling purty. makes a change.

it's really nice outside. its all quiet and theres a breeze coming through the window and all i can hear is the breeze through the trees, the birds singing their little hearts out, and the big windchime in the backyard adding the backup music. just a second ago i heard the kids nextdoor playing with a garden hose and making it 'rain'.

i'm not at work. and i'm damn well making the most of it. it's such a nice day, i almost want to go out and play in it. in fact, i think i will.
