"I was a kid once... but I soon grew out of that."
...words from Hawksley Workman, support act for Lior at lastnite's gig at The Governor Hindmarsh. Spunky canadian with a sexy accent and hell of a singin voice, and talented fingers dancing over the frets and handling those strings. Punctuating his songs with quips like: "Thank god you're timeless baby 'cos my watch got stolen." He had the audience chuckling and swooning. After the gig I got to talk to him and shook his hand. He has a cute little smile and when he thanked me in his Canadian accent I got all mushy.
After a brief break, the lights dropped and out strutted Lior in all his gorgeous glory. He sung most of our favourites from Autumn Flow plus some new ones. I was sitting in a comfy booth a little way back from the stage so i filled up my card with pictures in the hope that at least some would come out alright.
He told us that after performing in the Peace Festival in the city earlier that day, a lady came up to him and said "You're very brave for getting up there with a guitar and singing Hebrew". Shrugging he replied "...I guess". We laughed with him. I dont think it's brave as such, but it is beautiful. His voice is so wonderful, everyone in the room fell in love with him. Especially during my favourite, 'Bedouin Song'. I thought If I ever have a son, I'm going to call him Lior... no wait, if I ever have a son, Lior would be his father. And of course I bought a tshirt
Mmm Lior on my chest, as it should be.
